July 11 - Sophie's Birthday

Heather sent these pictures of Sophie's Birthday Party.

There were a few friends to help her celebrate, and from the looks of it, she had a great time.

I wonder if she knows just how cute she is???

Mike & Carolyn Visit

This past week we got a call from Mike Smart saying that he would be in town with Carolyn and wondering if we could get together for dinner one evening. We worked it out so that we met them Tuesday night at the Gaylord Convention Center at National Harbor. This is a new, hugh meeting and convention complex that they have recently built over on the other side of the Potomac River. It is about 45 minutes from our house. We met them and went to dinner at McCormick & Schmidts. The dinner was good, but the company was wonderful. We had a chance to catch up on the things that they are doing and had a wonderful evening. We snapped a couple of pictures.

One interesting thing that we found out is that Carolyn is a champion rower. She competes in the area where they live and regularly beats much younger rowers. She has won a number of rowing tournaments.

After we finished dinner we had to walk about five minutes back to the convention center where they were staying and it started to rain. By the time we got back to the hotel, we were soaked. It just added to the enjoyment of the evening. Driving back to our house, the rain really started to come down and we had a "goose drounder". We made if home safely and had a great evening.

Trip to Jared's Place

Cherry and I packed up the SUV and headed down to Christiansburg to see Jared, Heather and the Girls. We had a great time, went to the driving range and put=put golf. Did some shopping and ate several great meals. Heather cooked a great dinner on Friday. Saturday we pigged out at SAL'S and had great italian food. Sunday we had brunch as a great place they had found down on the New River - it was beautiful and the food was great.

It was great fun seeing them and all the work they have done on their house. The girls of course were the cutest and we had great fun with them.

Jared made a hole in one at the put-put golf course.

Cherry, Heather and Hanna outside their house.

Hanna give Cherry a big hug.

Sophia has her "Bug Juice".
